About CARES® Dementia Care for Families

This program is rich with activities and video interviews with family caregivers, people with dementia, and dementia experts. We suggest that facility administrators purchase a site license that includes families so that everyone (staff and families) can have a common understanding and language around the CARES Approach and dementia care.

This program has 4 modules (4 hours). The modules include:

  1. Understanding Memory Loss
  2. Living with Dementia
  3. Using the CARES® Approach
  4. Keys to Success with CARES®

About CARES® Dementia Certification

CARES Dementia Certification recognizes and tests a user’s dementia understanding and dementia care knowledge from the Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice Recommendations and published CARES research studies of select CARES online dementia care training programs. Organizations are encouraged to advertise their use of CARES certification to help promote their businesses. CARES Dementia Certification is optional and is included at no additional cost with the purchase of CARES Dementia-Related Behavior. Successful completion of the exam recognizes users for being educated about dementia and for being trained and certified in person-centered dementia care practices using the CARES® Approach. CARES® Dementia Care for Families was funded in part by a grant from the National Institute on Aging and was developed in conjunction with the national office of the Alzheimer's Association and a national team of experts.
